One of the major goals of San Antonio credit unions is to consistently and effectively come together for the benefit of their members. As a nonprofit cooperative, a credit union’s membership is, at its core, the backbone of the institution. Whether through enhanced product development or ensuring that their members feel a sense of belonging when they walk through the door, credit unions in San Antonio play a significant role in moving members forward toward their goals.
Recently, two San Antonio credit unions have decided to take this mission to the next level by officially declaring a merger. Air Force Federal Credit Union and Peoples Choice of San Antonio Federal Credit Union (PCSA) are two leading financial institutions in the city who made their union official, effective December 15, 2012. Air Force Federal Credit Union will be the primary acting credit union, led by existing President/CEO Robert “Bob” Glenn.
“This is an exciting time and a positive move for both organizations,” said Bob Glenn. “The merger provides increased services and products to our new members, and the new membership group will strengthen the credit union. The membership has embraced us. We look forward to providing the same excellent service to them that we have provided to our members for 60 years.”
Members can look forward to the advantages of a full-service financial institution with a complete array of products, including basic deposit accounts like checking and savings, in addition to lending services that take the pressure off of borrowing money. Furthermore, the merger opens the door to as much as eight branches in San Antonio. The CO-OP ATM network is available for members as an added convenience, and a 24/7/365 call center, online baking and mobile app allow members to maintain a close relationship with the institution and their funds.
With the support of over $350 million in assets, Air Force Federal Credit Union continues to tally win after win. Going into the new year, the credit union looks forward to serving its larger membership community, currently at over 37,000 members, in hopes of creating a stronger collective in the years to come.
